What we do
Outside, the water and the sun do the testing
An outdoor area has to deal with things an indoor floor never does. Water has to get off it, the surface has to stay safe when it is wet, and everything expands and contracts through a Perth summer.
So slip rating matters, falls matter more than they do inside, and movement joints are not optional. Get any of the three wrong and you end up with puddles, drummy tiles, or a surface nobody wants to walk on barefoot.
- Slip rated tiles specified to suit the area and how it is used
- Falls set so water runs to drainage rather than pooling
- External grade adhesives and grouts throughout
- Movement joints placed to handle summer expansion
- Balconies and elevated areas waterproofed before tiling
- Drainage, thresholds and step edges detailed properly
The detail
What makes the difference
Slip rating
Pool surrounds and alfrescos need a rating that works wet and barefoot.
Falls
Correct falls are what stop puddles and staining after the first real downpour.
Movement
Outdoor surfaces move with the heat. Joints in the right places stop tiles drumming.
