What we do
Big tiles punish small mistakes
Large format tiles are the reason a lot of Perth bathrooms look the way they do now, and they are also the reason a lot of them look wrong. The bigger the tile, the less the substrate can hide. A dip that would vanish under 300×300 becomes a visible step between two 1200mm edges.
Rectified tiles raise the stakes again. Their edges are machine cut dead straight, which is what lets you run a 2mm joint, but it also means any variation in the bed shows up immediately as lippage.
- Substrate levelled to a tighter tolerance than standard tiling needs
- Full back buttering, so there are no voids behind the tile
- Tile levelling systems used across the whole surface
- Joint width matched to the tile, down to 2mm on rectified
- Layout planned so pattern and shade variation are spread evenly
- Cuts made wet, so rectified edges stay clean
The detail
What makes the difference
Lippage
A fraction of a millimetre catches the light along a 1200mm edge. Levelling clips prevent it.
Coverage
Back buttering avoids voids, which is what cracks large tiles under load later on.
Joints
Rectified edges allow 2mm joints, but only if the bed underneath is genuinely flat.
